The president of the United States maintains the power to grant commemorative days or events. While the president is solving national crises, or receiving foreign dignitaries from countries all over the world, he’s also asked to sign proclamations to authorize National Potato Lovers Month and such. Different levels of government can also declare special days of observance for chocolate desserts and other delicious foods.
The days of Cordon Bleu and caramel popcorn may be behind us, but April promises many more tasty holidays. Just don’t expect banks or schools to close for National Jelly Bean Day.
