Our ISO insurance plans are designed with students in mind and we ensure that you are receiving the best coverage for the best price. How are we so affordable? Simple answer: our members. We insure thousands of international students and that allows us to maintain our competitive rates. So now that you are insured with ISO, here are 4 facts about us that you should know:

1. ISO does the research: Before we offer plans for schools, we make it our duty to make sure that our plans meet the requirements. It is important to us that you get your waiver approved. Once you have purchased the plan, we will be happy to help you with completing the waiver correctly and on time!
2. ISO Dictionary: Understanding insurance terms can be hard. To help you understand them better, we’ve created our very own insurance dictionary. Take a look at the popular insurance terms here.
3. ISO PPO Networks: We have two PPO networks- FirstHealth and Multiplan. This is our way of providing you many options when you are searching for a medical provider. These networks offer nationwide coverage and it’s always best to stay in-network because it’s more affordable and the insurance can provide you with more coverage.
4. Claims made easy: Another reason why it’s best to stay in-network is claims. In-networks providers usually submit claims on your behalf and this allows your bill to be processed in a timely manner. However, if your provider doesn’t submit a claim for you, no worries! You can simply submit them on your own and the step by step claim procedures can be viewed here.

Healthy BBQ

Once you have enrolled in insurance, be sure to enjoy the remaining days of summer so you can be ready and energized to begin the Fall semester. Why not organize a barbecue? To have a healthier barbecue, consider these tips:

1. Include grilled vegetables. Not only are they healthy but they are tasty especially when they come right off the grill.
2. Use a grill rack. While barbecuing your meal, try using a rack during the process. This will help to drain off some of the fat from the food.
3. Portion size. Always be mindful of how much you eat because too much of a good thing isn’t always good. Find that balance between the BBQ food, vegetables and side dishes so that you enjoy your meal while being mindful of your health.

For international students who are required to submit a waiver, the process can be very tricky.

Ensure that you check the waiver requirements so that you know what kind of plan you need to purchase as well as the dates you need to be covered for.

If you’re having problems completing your waiver, don’t be afraid to ask for help. At ISO, we are happy to help you complete the waiver correctly and on time.
If your school does not require you to complete a waiver form, it is still important that you have an insurance plan as a safety net for your medical needs. Don’t forget to purchase your ISO plan today!

Keep these pointers in mind so that the process is easier for you and you can waive successfully.

Get ready for the Fall semester!

You might not be thinking too much about school in the middle of  summer vacation. However, it would be very helpful for you to begin preparing for school. A little planning can go a long way to make the process less stressful.
We created a guide to help you focus on things to do before the semester begins so you can get a head start and succeed!

1. The cost of textbooks is one of the most expensive parts of attending school. Here are some tips on how to save more on textbooks:
Use the school library. Luckily, many school libraries have the latest textbooks required by professors. You can rent or review the textbooks throughout the semester when needed.
Check bulletin board postings. Bulletin boards can be found all over campus and are  great places to find used textbooks sold by other students. These usually sell at a much lower price than the used/new books in your school’s bookstore.
Check online resources. There are several very useful websites that sell used textbooks at a much lower price for students. These websites include Amazon.com, chegg.com, www.half.ebay.com.

2. Complete your summer assignments. Review your (respective) course syllabi and contact your professors to make sure you are preparing for your classes with any required readings or assignments.

3.
Apply for research, teaching, or graduate assistant positions now.
If you are interested in applying for a research, teaching, or graduate assistant position, you should start as early as possible. Look everywhere for open opportunities—such as on your school’s career center website or by asking your previous professors. Review the application process for each position carefully.

4. Make sure your health insurance is valid:
Health insurance is a necessity.  In case of a medical emergency, your health insurance is your safety net. Be sure to have your ISO health insurance so that you are prepared and covered!
