Give back as you give thanks: Volunteering at a local shelter or soup kitchen is one meaningful way of spending Thanksgiving Day. It helps to spread the sense of caring and helpfulness and it’s a great opportunity to meet and interact with others from different cultural backgrounds.
International Potluck: Dining on a budget is a general idea shared by almost every college student. Instead of dining in alone on Thanksgiving Day, get together with a group of friends and you each bring a dish from your country or culture. Before you know it, you will have your very own Thanksgiving dinner with memories to last a lifetime.
Pre- Thanksgiving Celebrations: Most international students’ office host Thanksgiving dinner or events for their international students before closing for the break. Be sure to check out your school’s office to see what on- campus events you can attend to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.
