- Keep healthy snacks in your dorm room. Buy items with a long shelf life to have around when you get hungry. This will come in handy especially during late night studying sessions. Try trail mix, nuts, seeds, dried fruit, rice cakes, or multi-grain crackers. Popcorn is also a great snack with a lot of fiber!
- When choosing foods in the dining hall or anywhere else, stick with foods that are described as roasted, baked, steamed or broiled. Try to stay away from fried foods.
- Try some easy dorm room recipes: Even if you don’t have a full kitchen, sometimes all you need is a microwave. Did you know you can make meals like scrambled eggs, oatmeal, or even fried rice with vegetables in the microwave?
- Whether you are at your school's dining hall or anywhere else, it can be very tempting to choose soda as your drink. Sodas and other sugary beverages only add empty calories and pounds to your waistline. Stick to water, tea, or milk.
