Slow down: While it is easier said than done, sometimes we need to take a step back, breathe and be in the moment. Allow your mind to be at ease and lessen tension.
‘Tis the season to be jolly: Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, this time of the year is all about being grateful and being happy for every positive thing in your life. Bask in your achievements, be humbled by your opportunities, laugh in your happy moments and be grateful you have made it this far.
Disconnect: Heads bent, thumbing away on your phone checking your social media feeds has become our easy way of connecting. Too much social media can be stressful as we sometimes start comparing ourselves to others’ achievements and that is a recipe for feeling down. We question our achievements and start to self-doubt. When you find yourself doing this, put down your phone and step away from your social media. Even if it is for an hour or more, it isn’t worth the added stress.
Let’s talk about…: One of the most underappreciated resources on- campus is the wellness and counselling center. If you are feeling stressed out or overwhelmed, speak to someone about it. Whether it is your family, close friend or the counselling center, just speak to someone so you can feel better.
